Jane Wells, JD, PhD
I’m a licensed psychologist who has been practicing in Colorado since 1994. My path into psychology began after earning my law degree from Tulane Law School in 1983 and practicing law for several years in Louisiana and New Mexico. Ultimately, my interest in human behavior and emotional well-being led me to pursue a Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, which has shaped the foundation of my work over the past few decades.
For many years, my practice included extensive work at the intersection of psychology and the legal system. I conducted psychological evaluations in both criminal and family law, including assessments for competency, criminal responsibility, mitigation, and parental responsibility. I’ve worked with courts at the federal and state levels, serving both defense and court-appointed roles.
While I continue to value the insight my legal background brings, I’m now shifting my focus more fully into private practice, providing psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I am trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, an approach that incorporates themes of the unconscious and how it lives in the present. This perspective allows me to work deeply and thoughtfully, helping clients gain insight into patterns, relationships, and emotional experiences that shape their current lives.
Whether you're navigating a life transition, working through long-standing patterns, or seeking support for a specific challenge, I aim to offer a space that is supportive, clear, and respectful of your unique path. I welcome the opportunity to talk with you and see if we’re a good fit.
