Jane Wells, JD, PhD
I’m a licensed psychologist who has been practicing in Colorado since 1994. My journey into psychology began after earning my law degree from Tulane Law School in 1983 and working as an attorney in Louisiana and New Mexico. Over time, my deeper interest in human behavior, emotion, and healing led me to pursue both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, work that has shaped and grounded my practice for the past several decades.
For many years, I worked at the intersection of psychology and the legal system, conducting psychological evaluations in both criminal and family court settings. This included assessments related to competency, criminal responsibility, mitigation, and parental responsibility. I’ve collaborated with courts at both the state and federal levels, serving in roles that spanned defense and court-appointed cases. This experience continues to inform my clinical lens with depth, rigor, and an appreciation for complex systems.
While I continue to value the insight my legal background brings, I now focus more fully on my private practice, providing psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, couples, and families. I am trained in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, a thoughtful and relational approach that explores how past experiences and unconscious dynamics shape the present. This perspective allows me to work deeply and thoughtfully, helping clients gain insight into patterns, relationships, and emotional experiences that shape their current lives.
Whether you’re navigating a life transition, feeling stuck in longstanding patterns, or seeking support around a specific concern, I offer a therapeutic space that is warm, respectful, and attuned to your unique story. I welcome the opportunity to connect and see if working together feels like the right fit for you.
